AI Use Policy

Last updated: 5 August 2026

This policy explains how and why AI tools are used at Woodland Studio. I believe my clients deserve to know exactly where AI fits into my work, and, just as importantly, where it doesn’t.

The tool I use

I use one AI tool: Claude, made by Anthropic. I don’t run multiple AI systems or experiment with a rotating set of tools on client work. If that changes, this policy will be updated.

What it’s used for

Our use of AI is narrow and functional. Specifically, Claude is used to:

Gather and interpret statistics on website performance and functionality, load times, uptime, technical health, and similar diagnostics.

Support occasional code tweaks and testing, small technical fixes and checks on work that has already been built.

That is the extent of it. AI is a diagnostic and technical assistant in my process, not a creative one.

What it’s not used for

AI is not used for creative work of any kind, nor to design or build websites. Every website designed by Woodland Studio, every layout decision, every piece of visual or written creative direction is the product of human thought, ours and our clients’. That work is not outsourced to a model.

Why this matters to me

Website design is a collaborative, human process. The back-and-forth with a client, the misreads and course corrections, the judgement calls that come from experience rather than pattern-matching, this is where the value of my work actually lives, and I’m protective of it.

I also think human error has real worth. Mistakes, revisions, and the friction of figuring something out the hard way are part of how people learn and how creative work improves. Smoothing all of that away in the name of efficiency isn’t a trade-off we’re interested in making, particularly not in the parts of the process that are supposed to be creative and human in the first place.
